Introduction

Ragnar (2017) is a cheerful boy who has developed spastic quadriplegia, or spasticity of all limbs, as a result of a stroke. As a result of tetraparesis, the child has impaired function in the upper and lower limbs and muscle weakness in the trunk. In addition, he has a speech disorder: communication is supported by simplified gestures and picture communication.

Ragnar is very active, cheerful and motivated. According to the doctors and therapists, the main focus for him at the moment is on various developmental therapies: physiotherapy, occupational therapy and other science-based therapies that support motor and cognitive development.

Today, the Children’s Foundation, with the support of good donors, is helping to pay for the physiotherapy Ragnar needs, to the amount of €1080, and for speech and language therapy, to the amount of €350 over the support period. Of the total cost of the therapies, 10% will be covered by the family and €500 by the local community.

The Children’s Foundation will support Ragnar from 2020. In the past, we have also helped to cover the cost of the boy’s riding therapy.

Ragnar was a supported child of the E-lux Peetri Jooks charity run in 2024. In the photo he is with the patron of the run, Roald Johannson.
