The duration of the project
January 2012 to December 2012
Detailed introduction
This campaign is active throughout the whole year of 2012
Procter & Gamble’s charity campaign “Kingi lastele rõõmu” (“Gift children happiness”) runs from January 1st to March 31st in every store in Estonia. You can help support the children’s walking analyses by buying one of the following Procter & Gamble products: Pampers, Always, Naturella, Blend-a-med, Fairy, Bonux, Tide, Ariel, Lenor, Gillette, Pantene, Head & Shoulders, Wella, Old Spice, Dreft.
Walking analyses help to estimate the neurological damages, including the condition of children with physical underdevelopment, known as cerebral palsy. Analysis of movement allows to determine a child’s movement in three dimensions and make necessary decisions based on that, such as what kind of orthopedic care the child needs.
According to the chairman of the Haapsalu Neurological Rehabilitation Center, Priit Eelmäe, the main goal of developing the walking laboratory is to support evidence-based rehabilitation care. Eelmäe considers this year’s Children’s Fund project thankworthy: “Supporting of conducting analyses vastly improves the quality of clinical decisions regarding walking.”
The walking analysis, which is carried out by a one-of-a-kind diagnostics method in the Baltics, creates the prerequisities for more accurate treatment planning and thus, it is also possible to achieve savings in the total expenditure in health care.
Project cost
The analyses are not government-funded and currently, the family has to pay for the expensive analyses. One analysis costs 230 euros. With the help of the campaign, we hope to cover the analyses of at least 100 children.
